I received a few very intimate gifts from God this past week that I'm treasuring. It was such an amazing week- purely blissful, beautiful, filled of hope, and filled with some of God's most extraordinary creation in the ocean.
I had the privilege of traveling to Moorea, French Polynesia with my husband and my cousin and her husband. We got the opportunity to watch humpback whales in the process of their migration. And we even got the opportunity to swim with a humpback whale mother and her baby. It was one of the most beautiful, life-giving experiences of my life.
The whale was so beautiful, so huge, and unique- unlike anything I've ever seen- it had the power to destroy us with simply a jump or a flick of her tail. But she was calm, beautiful, with her baby whale- also ginormous compared to human size. She was wonderful. And I hope that forever I will treasure this gift of swimming with these beautiful creations. That I will remember that it is God who is the giver of every good gift, that I will praise Him for bringing such beauty into my life.
Another gift I was given was a new hobby of scuba diving. It is very eye opening to the beauty of the world underwater: so many new and unknown creatures, so much to explore, so much raw beauty in one place. It is hard to describe how wonderful it is to be able to see nature underwater and the ocean in a new way unless you have tried it.
Psalm 34:8 invites us to "Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him."
I just invite you to open your eyes to the beauty around you and be open to adventuring with God to new depths of His creation. You never know what special gifts God may have in store for you- made just perfectly for your heart and your character. He knows everything about you and he loves to sing over you and make you smile.
